I have recently sourced some new wood from Virginia and have been amazed by the remarkable figuring and grain patterns. This absolutely stunning Comfort Bird has been carved from intricately figured Maple. Curly, rippled, knotted, spalted, with hints of ambrosia — it seems that everything that can happen to a piece of Maple is represented in the character of this precious bird! He has been photographed perched on a rough cut blank of figured Maple.
